Kilo Kai Committment Kilo Kai Participation Agreement Participation Commitment by Schools in the “Kilo Kai”The following schools commit to full participation in the Kilo Kai program's customized activities that provide students challenging Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences. Description of Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences for Students: Wisdom of the Watershed will engage students and their teachers in real, local, leading edge research projects in environmental and marine science. Program instructors, researcher scientists, and college interns provide coaching and support to science teachers in developing and conducting project-based learning experiences using these research projects. Teachers and students will participate in project lesson development, defining inquiry questions, fieldwork, data analysis, and presentations. These activities occur both in and out of the classroom. The students will have access to this data set along with others to develop their own questions and science projects.Program's Offer of MWEE Support Resources: • Training on environmental assessments • Project Development Logistics planning for field trips to locations arranged to fit on a case-by-case basis; Release time –substitute teachers; Buses or vans. • Water quality sampling and testing. • Use of field tools, ROVs, cameras. • Use of high-level lab analysis equipment and training. • GIS/mapping training. • Professional Development. • Exposure to scientists and cultural practitioners to work on real projects and utilize research facilities.Participation Agreement: • Complete Student and Teacher forms either online or paper copies. • Teachers will incorporate the class, lab, and field experiences into their school year. • Recruit and encourage participation by students.
